Fireaxe update

Took my painting into photoshop, gave it a bit more room around the edges and played with some digital painting on top of the ink work.  It may be subtle, but I think it's better...

oops, wrong blog!  Well, I'll leave it here anyway ;)

10 skeletorz

figured I'd post this before I get too carried away with rendering and never finish it. :)  Scanned from my sketchbook and photoshop'ed.
I bascially felt like skeletor needed to look more like a creeper, hence the design of pretty much all of these.  The three on the right side are my favsies.

I'll post any updates on this piece!

Trap Jaw

Not entirely happy with how this one turned out - which is pretty normal for me at this point I suppose ;)  Pen and acrylic ink on illustration board.

Monday, July 25, 2011

greetings!

Given that I'm still in San Diego, I may not get to today's and tomorrow's character on their correct days...but if that is the case, I'll do them this weekend, so my week may be slightly shifted out ;)  Anyone else who reads this, I would love to see your interpretations of these characters, funny or serious...this means you, Sinan and Pakorn! :)

Panthro

Pen and acrylic ink on watercolour paper (shocking, I know!)  Composition based somewhat on Charles Vess' "The Raven Banner."

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Still getting the hang of the Cintiq- proportions are really hard, so her arms are super long.

Cheetara

Much happier with this one.  Pen and acrylic ink on watercolour paper, as per usual :)

Lion-O

Not happy with his proportions, but nonetheless, here's Lion-O.  Pen and acrylic ink on watercolour paper.

The Mummy

Again, used a Bernie Wrightson drawing as inspiration, then took it my own way from there.  Pen and acrylic ink on watercolour paper.

The Wolfman

Tried a block of Arches hot press paper, enjoyed it :)  Pen and acrylic ink.

High Society Frankenstein

After the tragic death of his creator, The Monster took on the name of Prometheus A. Frankenstein, and soon found acceptance amongst British high society. His dangerous brutish looks, tall tales of adventure and philisophical musings on the nature of man and progress made him a favourite at parties  and social events of the day.

Puck

Pen and acrylic ink on watercolour paper.

Bottom & Puck

Helena

I swear, this character doesn't really do much of importance, but all the humans in this play seem to do a lot of sleeping...

Pen and acrylic ink on Arches coldpress watercolour paper.

Firestorm

I've always hated Firestorm's costume. Here's a new one.

Firestorm

Acrylic ink on hot-press watercolour paper.  Not super happy with it, but there you go :)

Wonder Woman sketchcard

I was given a couple of bristol board sketchcards at HeroesCon, and I used one for Wonder Woman. Acrylic ink.

Woonnnnnnnnnnnder Woman!... Lineart

Tried I different style for her... Just traditional inking for now.

Aphrodite... I know I know, wrong woman!

Wonder woman is on her way, but a few days ago I was loosely painting, and it looked like a woman in water, so heck, I decided to make her Aphrodite.

(Acrylic paint and India Ink)

Nananananananananananananana...

Well, ok, that opening was a little old school compared to the version I picked, but I just wanted to type that out as my title =P Anyways, I remember I watched Batman Beyond here and there when I was little... but not much else =<  I like his design because he's so pointy, but I made him somewhat less pointy here, hope it's still alright!

(Inked traditionally with pen and brush, coloured digitally)
